Well, we didn’t imagine at the start of our planning year a world pandemic would have an affect on everything we all do on a day to day basis! During our Business Conference on the 10th of March there were suggestions that fears surrounding coronavirus were beginning to grow, and fast forward two weeks later, the United Kingdom was in lockdown.
Naturally, this meant we had to rethink our event calendar for the year, and so a little update for you:
1. Aber First Awards – we have extended the application deadline to the 1st of July 2020, in light of us cancelling the ceremony which was planned for June. We have booked the Great Hall at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre for the 21st of October 2020, fingers crossed!
2. Summer Fete – another event we’d planned for June, and currently sitting with “postponed” hanging over it. We’re going to reasses the situation at our next Board Meeting which is the beginning of May – if it looks like we can hold a large event, then we’ll plan for September. If not, we’re going bigger and better for 2021!
3. Christmas! We usually start planning for Christmas around about mid May to June. At the moment, we have no plans to change our usual Christmas schedule, but, we’re very aware this may change as the year goes on.
We also decided at the start of April to start utilising our social media channels to promote the local community – especially given that our own events are being postponed or cancelled. So, if you follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram you’ll have noticed we’re sharing a lot of what’s going on in the area, from businesses, groups, general updates and things to put a smile on your face. We hope you like it!
Stay safe, we can’t wait to see you all again properly!
